Company History

TAG Company was founded in 1997 as an operating division of Entertainment UK (EUK), for the purpose of identifying effective retail security tagging solutions for EUK's customers. The inspiration was the thought that if entertainment media could be adequately secured for live display (i.e. open merchandising), it would increase sales.

A result of the original initiative was the patented line of Self Seal Tags™ and Labels. The Self Seal products have been sold to leading CD, DVD, and video retailers in the UK and Europe since 1998. Self Seal Tags incorporate standard EAS labels underneath clear plastic, self-adhesive labels to create a combination of anti-theft and tamper prevention.

In 2002, TAG Company entered the EAS systems business to provide both AM and RF Hardware and consumables by working with leading UK retailers to determine the best solutions for their needs and environments.

The direction of TAG's business in relation to EUK and the Woolworths Group, and equally a significant opportunity for growth of TAG's business culminated in a management-led buyout from EUK/Woolworths in May 2003.

Since 2003, TAG has developed world leading products, including a "smart EAS" platform for proactively reporting and managing a retailer's EAS program and also formed exclusive partnership programs with leading AM and RF hardware manufacturers.  These factors have enabled TAG to deliver some of the largest EAS roll-outs in the UK in recent years.

In 2008, TAG was acquired by Adurion Global Opportunity Fund.  The acquisition was an extension to an initial investment in 2006.  This acquisition provides TAG with the capacity for growth, and ensures longevity of supply to retailers globally. Over the last year TAG has protected over 1 billion consumer goods, not only to its existing clients in the UK but to an ever-increasing global retail base in Europe, Asia Pacific and the Americas.
